Nomad Solar Energy has completed the installation of a NOMAD Energy Box NEB20 at an energy-sector project in Puerto Rico, a hybrid system combining solar generation, battery storage, and conventional backup that has significantly reduced diesel consumption and improved the stability of the site’s power supply. The project needed to cut diesel consumption without compromising operational continuity. To address this, Nomad Solar Energy deployed a NOMAD Energy Box NEB20, a system in which solar power serves as the primary source, battery storage covers demand during low-generation periods, and the conventional generator only comes online when needed, adapting to shifting demand across each phase of the build.
With a single unit installed, results included 158,426 kWh of annual solar output, $44,359 a year in electricity savings, $43,263 a year in diesel savings, and 124.4 tonnes of CO₂ avoided. The company also points to a reduced environmental footprint, energy consumption optimized to actual demand, greater energy independence, and lower exposure to fuel price volatility.
